About Marcus

Marcus Padley is a stockbroker who has been advising institutional and private clients for more than 27 years. Born in Yorkshire, England, he came to Australia in 1994, as, he says, “the souvenir of my wife Emma’s five-year visit to London”. He lives in Melbourne with Emma and their four children; Olivia, Charlotte, Jemima and Archie.

For the past 11 years, Marcus has produced a daily online stockmarket newsletter, called Marcus Today, emailed daily to a subscriber base of many thousands. Its mission — to “Inform, Explain, Educate and Entertain”.

Marcus also writes for The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald and does a weekly column for the WA Business News. He also writes for the Crikey.com newsletter and for Alan Kohler’s Eureka Market Report. He is an expert analyst on ABC TV’s Inside Business program and on ABC’s Lateline Business program. His financial insights feature daily on ABC Radio 774 in Melbourne.

Marcus is also a regular speaker. He is a Bachelor of Law and has a Master's degree in Applied Finance from Macquarie University, including a Prize in Applied Portfolio Management. He was previously a Stock Exchange Affiliate and is now a Master Stockbroking member of the Securities & Derivatives Industry Association (SDIA). He is ASX Derivatives qualified. He drives a desk at stockbroker Patersons Securities.

Marcus is a black belt in karate.
